Buddy for media
Breaking news, read while it's still breaking.
Your newsletter lands next to forty others. On WhatsApp, readers open the edition within minutes, send you tips, and get alerts only on the topics they chose.

Editors, audience and community, on the app readers check first.
Editorial: an edition people finish
The edition arrives on the app readers check before breakfast, at the hour you pick. You see who read it and who clicked through to the full story.
Audience: the right story, the right reader
Breaking news goes only to readers who follow that topic. Nobody gets twelve alerts they never asked for, so nobody hits unsubscribe.
Community: every tip in one inbox
Tips, questions and RSVPs arrive sorted by what readers mean and get answered in the same thread. Your next story often starts right there.
Your readers don't ignore you. They ignore the inbox.
The morning inbox is a queue of newsletters, receipts and sales, and your edition waits its turn. But the same reader opens WhatsApp before getting out of bed.
One widget under the story, then Buddy does the rest.
Add a sign-up widget to your pages. Everything after that runs inside Buddy.
Readers say yes
A widget under the story, an opt-in page in your show notes, or an import of subscribers who already said yes.
Sort them by what they read
Tags become audiences: the morning edition, a breaking topic, your paid members.
Publish, alert, reply
A welcome runs on its own. The edition goes out as a scheduled WhatsApp messages. Every tip comes back to one inbox.
Four messages a newsroom sends in its first week.
Each one an approved WhatsApp template, written for one reader, and every reply comes straight back to your desk.

The edition readers wait for.
Write it once, add a header image, and set it to go out every weekday at the hour your readers wake up. Every reader gets it with their own name, and every reply comes back to you.
Breaking news, only for readers who asked.
Send to the topic audience, not the whole list. See who read it and who clicked within minutes.
Readers sign up on your pages and can leave with one word. Buddy records both.
Every reader reply, sorted for you.
Tips, questions, RSVPs, sorted by intent. Your desk answers right in the thread.
Bring the readers who already said yes.
Import subscribers who agreed to WhatsApp, tags and all. Every opt-in is saved with where and when it happened, and one word stops all messages.
Roles for editors, audience and community.
Invite the desk. Each person sees just what their job needs.
Number health, always in view.
Your quality rating and messaging limit from WhatsApp, right inside Buddy.
What editors ask before the first WhatsApp edition.
Anything else, ask Sarah. She reads and replies to every message.
Can a publisher send news on WhatsApp?
Yes, to readers who asked for it. Buddy runs on the official WhatsApp Business Platform: every opt-in is recorded with its source and every opt-out is honoured on the spot. Your edition goes out as an approved template, and Meta's messaging policies apply.
How do readers sign up?
With a widget on your article pages, an opt-in page or QR code for show notes, print or live events, or an import of subscribers who already agreed to hear from you on WhatsApp.
Can readers get only the topics they care about?
Yes. Every subscriber carries tags, and tags become audiences. Send the morning edition to everyone who chose it and a breaking update only to readers tagged for that topic.
Can we schedule the daily edition?
Yes. Write the WhatsApp message, add a header image if you like, pick the audience and the time, and it goes out every weekday on its own. You see sent, delivered, read, clicked and failed for every reader.
How does Buddy handle reader data?
Buddy is built for GDPR. You choose which fields come in, consent and opt-out stay on record, and our DPA and privacy policy cover the rest.
What does WhatsApp charge for these messages?
Meta charges for business messages by type and country. Your Buddy plan is separate from that.
